A Week In New York (2/8)

 

These pictures were taken during a week staying in Maryland and New York in November 2003.

  

 

 

 

Also in the Smithsonian, a full size replica of the Apollo-Soyuz Docking which took place on July 17th 1975.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This exhibition celebrates 100 years of piloted powered flight since the Wright Brothers took to the air in December 1903.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just before leaving the museum we took turns touching a piece of rock from the moon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

First Mark and then I touched it. No magical events happened and we were not transported to the moon.

The Lincoln Memorial built between 1914 and 1922. The museum beneath has photos of the many protests held in DC over the years, particularly those of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. Nearby is the Vietnam memorial.
