Central Italy (2/7)

 

A friend invited us to stay at his holiday home in Umbria during June 2003.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Montepulciano is built on a steep hillside so many of the streets are on a significant incline.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the top of Montepulciano is the town hall in the central piazza.

Not every day was sight seeing. On Monday we drove to the beach near Viareggio on Italy's north-west coast. The water has to be warm to get me into it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Behind the beach was a nature reserve where we saw many of these flowering yucca plants, a rare sight in England.
